Summer time, oh sweet summer time. How I love you. I love the warmth of the sun, the long days, and the mental break from the monotony of a schedule. Things just seem to slow down so much. School is out, activities are over and mornings are slow. Well, maybe not slow but slower. How slow can it be with three kids, right? I enjoy being on a schedule most of the time but I always welcome this 2 month break. The hiatus from the schedule is probably the overriding theme of this season. But the one “plan” we don’t skip is our seasonal bucket list. It’s the fun summer activities we can’t forget before our time is up. Below is a link to print this summer bucket list if you choose or you can use the ideas to create your own.
We have lots of fun planned like a backyard barbeque. When planning this get together with my friends and family I like to keep it low key. What fun is it if you are stressing about all the details? Let everyone bring something like a side dish or maybe a game to play. Have games and activities for the kids to play in the back yard. Our favorites for this year will be corn hole, a three legged race, sprinklers, kick ball, and sidewalk chalk. This should keep the kids pretty busy.
Other ideas include watching a movie outside, building a sandcastle, and having a picnic. If you won’t be visiting a beach this year don’t skip the sandcastle building. This can easily be done in your backyard with kids play sand. Watching a movie outside can be done with taking a television to a covered porch or using a sheet and a projector. There are tons of Pinterest ideas for creating your own outdoor movie theater.
We also make what we call a Summer to do list. This is different from the bucket list because it includes things we want to accomplish before the beginning of the next school year. I’ll have a post very soon showing you our complete list but it will include things like riding a bike without training wheels or tying shoes without help. I warned you about my compulsive list making.
I hope you find the list below a good start to creating your own bucket list. Let me know your ideas in the comments section below.
